Hello to all our returning readers and those of you new to The Better Drink. Welcome to out second Fall issue of The Better Drink. I particularly love this time of year living in Cambridge, MA. The change of seasons always comes and surprises me with its beauty and variety of colors and temperatures. Nothing compares to that first really crisp night and saying hello to the same heavy coat you couldn’t even touch since last spring.
Just as spring is the beginning of the growing season and outdoors; fall is the opening of the indoor season including more oven heavy cooking. For this issue we spoke with Executive Chef of Long Acre House at Westport Rivers Winery, Kerry Downey Romaniello about many topics from wine and food pairing to celebrity chefs. Please check it out. Our feature introduces us to the photography of famed French photographer, Jean-Baptist Huynh, and how this has been incorporated in the new look of Laurent-Perrier. Also, the Arts & Sciences section looks into what makes wine corked.
Sandy Mitchell and Peter Hammer return to The Better Drink in HelloGoodbye, respectively. David Sirois tells us an incredible champagne story in "Under the Goldlight: true tales of drinking champagne". Paul Donaldson lets us in on his passion for systems dynamics, and Suzie Sims-Fletcher looks back into her childhood remembering a best friend in Life Before Ten.
Our fine arts section offers a variety of amazing pieces of art in a virtual group show of artists represented by Art Attack, a gallery in Somerville, MA. Sheri McGregor offers her fiction. Don't miss the poetry of Rose Tolsroy, Jennifer Barnick and Robert Slattery. Anna Luciano, Ian Detlefsen, and Dave Brown review the movies to enhance your fall viewing. And last, but the very opposite of least, visit Jennifer Barnick's In Search of the Champagne Life everyday as she helps us navigate the tousled waters of life on route to the golden shores of the Champagne Life.
Please enjoy your tour around The Better Drink...and have a great fall season...hopefully with a glass of bubbly.
