Dear Readers,
Welcome to the Fall issue, our second edition, of The Better Drink A Sparkling Wine and Living Magazine . Around were I live, Summer has begun to give way to Fall and harvest has begun already in the warmer climes. This is an exciting time of year. First, I want to thank all of our returning readers for your support as we try to lift The Better Drink to higher levels. The goal of this magazine continues to be to show that the “champagne life” is a life not based on money or fame but based on one's inner spirit, the spirit that should be celebrated on a daily basis. This magazine provides a much-needed forum in the publishing world for artists to contribute to and readers to find stories in that are truly a celebration of the human spirit, demonstrating that all of us are special regardless of our state or station. Two new sections have been included in The Better Drink. I am very excited to introduce to you to the Marcia Reed Virtual Gallery. The gallery will be showing its namesake in this issue—Marcia Reed's collection of expressionistic landscapes. The purpose of the gallery is to bring together the reader with art of our time. Something I know I get too little of. Additionally, The Better Drink now has a fiction section that will let you hear a new voice in fiction with every issue. Both of these new sections as is most of the magazine, the creation of our sensational editor Jennifer Barnick. Before I let you go to check out the new edition let me send out a special thank you to Willy Frank of Chateau Frank Champagne for his vote of confidence in our fledgling mag. He sent us some remarkable sparkling wine from the Finger Lakes in New York. His remarkable vintage brut, blanc de blancs and blanc de noirs as well as a delicious sparkling rose displayed exceptional personality and artistic integrity. I only hope that his wine will become available in a store near me because right now it is very scarce in my part of Massachusetts. Please go out and enjoy the new issue and have a great autumn.Dr. Timothy Smith, PhD
